A Soirée of Poetry Featured author: John Asfour

John Asfour is an internationally renowned poet and literary translator, winner of the F.G. Bressani Prize and the Joseph Staford Award from Canada Council. He is the editor and translator of When the Words Burn: Modern Arabic Poetry in Translation and Joy Is Not My Profession: Selected Poems of Muhammad al-Maghut. His most recent poetry book is the much celebrated collection, Blindfold (McGill-Queens University Press). Asfour was the inaugural writer- in-residence at the Kogawa House in Vancouver, he lives in Montreal.
