The Hamilton Jewish Federation Holocaust Education Committee – Raoul Wallenberg

The Hamilton Jewish Federation Holocaust Education Committee cordially invites you to a special program honouring Raoul Wallenberg. On Jan. 16 Hamilton will join communities across the world to celebrate Raoul Wallenberg Day with a moving program in recognition of his life and hunanitarian achievements. The program will feature personal testimony, a short film, poetry, music, and a preview of the new Wallenberg stamp.

Raoul Wallenberg Day was designated by the Government of Canada in 2001 to honour him, Canada’s first honorary citizen, who is credited with saving the lives of more than 100,000 Hungarian Jews. Wallenberg disappeared on Jan. 17, 1945.

Special guest speaker: Hamiltonian Ernie Mason, personally rescued by Wallenberg.

Presented in partnership with Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Hamilton Spectator, the Consulate of Sweden, and Adas Israel Congregation. For information: Elaine Levine, elevine@jewishhamilton.org or 905-627-9922, ext. 24.
