Twice a year the AWWCA publishes and distributes a newsletter entitled Neighbourhood News and Views, which contains articles by directors, members, and friends of the association and by some outside contributors. The association posts past newsletters on its website for viewing by its members and the general public. As agent for and on behalf of the authors of the articles, the association claims copyright and moral rights in respect of the articles. A member of the general public who wishes to use all or parts of an article should send a request in writing to the association’s postal or e-mail address stating the identity of the person or organization requesting such use, the reasons for the request, and the period of time during which the articles will be used.
For the interest and convenience of visitors to the AWWCA website, the association provides links to the websites of many other entities, groups, and organizations, such as the City of Hamilton and the Town and Gown Association of Ontario. The association has no control over the content of these other websites and therefore does not vouch for the accuracy or fairness of the articles or comments they contain. Visitors to our website who have questions or concerns about the contents of the linked sites should contact the administrators of those websites directly.
Members of the association and members of the general public frequently contact the board of directors about infractions of city bylaws relating to noise and property standards. Wherever possible the association tells the appropriate municipal officer about the nature of the concern without disclosing the identity of the complainant. However, in some situations it becomes necessary to disclose the name and address of the person who contacted the association so that the municipal officer can carry out an investigation and, if appropriate, enforce the bylaw. If you do not want your identity disclosed, it is incumbent on you to inform the association at the very beginning of the complaint process.
