Presentation on the History of Ainslie Wood/Westdale and Preservation of Architectural/Cultural Heritage

There will be a free presentation for the public on Wednesday December 4 at 6:30 PM in the Westdale Branch of the Public Library.

The session is co-sponsored by Councillor Brian McHattie and the Ainslie Wood Westdale Community Association. Speakers from the City, McMaster University and local, independent heritage consultant Megan Hobson, will discuss the history of the area and issues related to the preservation of the architectural and cultural heritage. Various buildings will be shown and discussed as to why they should be saved as well as showing some sites that have been lost. There will be ample time for audience discussion and the hope is that in future an interested public can help to identify schools, churches, homes and any other sites worthy of preservation.
