Panel discussion featuring winners of the Presidents Awards for Teaching & Learning: Student Learning, Instructor Experience & Community Engagement

The McMaster Seminar on Higher Education: Practice, Policy, and Public Life is a new lecture series presented by the Office of the President. The aim of the annual series is to encourage dialogue and inspire critical thought within the McMaster and the broader Hamilton communities. It is intended that the topics will be timely, interdisciplinary, and far-reaching, guided by the key questions and challenges facing higher education institutions and the communities they serve. In considering and challenging current paradigms, the series will be both thought-provoking and imaginative. It will emphasize the importance to the academy, and to society as a whole, of thinking critically and engaging in meaningful discussion of challenging issues. The series is intended to be of relevance for a wide audience and all members of the community are welcome and encouraged to attend.

This year, the series will feature speakers presented by The Public Intellectuals Project, the Centre for Leadership in Learning, and the Office of the President.

PLEASE NOTE:

Parking reimbursement for this lecture is available for those who park in LOT H or in the underground parking lot under the stadium. Please see the campus map for parking lot locations.

Tales of Earth and Sky

In celebration of Earth Day (Apr 22!), we decided to craft a program called Tales of Earth and Sky. Central to the theme is the Eric Whitacre composition Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine, a choral depiction of the sounds of flight in his imagined flying machine. Also featured is Vaughan Williams’ Shakespeare Songs,Stanford’s The Bluebird, and Rutter’s Windy Nights. Again we will promote local talent by performing the world premiere of Hamilton composer Tyler Versluis’ Live With Me On Earth. We invite you to mark your calendars to join us for this varied and colourful concert.

A Christmas Benefit Concert for Wesley Urban Ministries

We are going to repeat our Strata variety show for our Christmas concert, since last year’s concert was so much fun! We will be showcasing the many talents, singing and otherwise, that our Strata personnel have. What the Folk will again join us and we will also feature some instrumentals and vocal solos on the seasonal theme. There will also be a few carols to sing-along for our audience. All proceeds from the concert admission will go to Wesley Urban Ministries to support the valuable work that they do in our Hamilton community.
