SUMMA 2011

The annual exhibition by the graduating students from McMaster’s Studio Art Program, features work by twenty artists in a wide variety of media including printmaking, painting, sculpture, drawing, book making, mixed media, and installation.

Gary Pearson: 1 2 3 Soliloquy

1 2 3 Soliloquy is an exhibition about expressions of everyday realities, and our often strained and ambiguous distal relationship to those realities. It includes Kelowna-based artist Gary Pearson’s recent Soliloquy videos and his related “short fiction” photo-prints combined with works selected from the McMaster Museum of Art’s German collection, expanded to include American Hollywood photography of the period, and contemporary European work.  ARTIST’S STATEMENT AND LIST OF WORKS

Help Preserve Cootes Paradise

A community meeting to learn how Ainslie Wood Westdale residents can help.

  • Did you know that Cootes Paradise and Royal Botanical Gardens’ other natural lands contain over 1,500 different species of plants and animals, including over 50 species at risk, like the Jefferson salamander?
  • Did you know that the forest on the edge of Churchill Park is one of Ontario’s rare Carolinian forests? Did you know that this forest is in decline, but can be revived, with the help of Westdale residents?
  • Did you know that Royal Botanical Gardens, the City of Hamilton, and 7 other partner agencies are working together to create the Cootes to Escarpment Park System – a vision to protect and enhance our region’s incredible natural spaces?

Come out to learn more about Cootes Paradise, Royal Botanical Gardens and the Cootes to Escarpment Park System project. Contribute your ideas and find out what you can do to help protect our natural lands.

 

This public meeting will feature informative presentations followed by discussion of the relationships Westdale residents have with neighbouring natural lands, and how they can help revive them.

The Dalewood Review Area includes G.R. Allan, Dalewood and Prince Phillip. Meetings began in April 2011 and will run until October 2011.

The fourth public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday October 19 at 6 p.m. and will be held at Dalewood Middle School, 1150 Main Street West,Hamilton.
