Professor Giroux has been honoured with a prestigious Choice Outstanding Academic Title award for his non-fiction book,Education and the Crisis of Public Values.  Published in 2011, Education and the Crisis of Public Values addresses a shift in American culture away from democratic public values, market-driven modes of education and growing social disinvestment among youth.

This list of award-winning books is highly selective. Only 10 per cent of roughly 7,000 books reviewed by Choice each year are chosen for an Outstanding Academic Title award. Selections are based on overall excellence in presentation and scholarship; importance relative to other literature in the field; originality or uniqueness of treatment; value to undergrads; and several other categories.
